Wolf Ranch in Arches National Park
The Wolfe Ranch, also known as Turnbow Cabin, was settled by John Wolfe and his oldest son in 1888. A troublesome leg injury from the Civil War caused Wolfe to leave his wife and three children in Ohio and move west in search of a drier climate. This primitive one bedroom cabin sits at the beginning of the Delicate Arch trail. It’s an easy wander to the structure, and it will only take one peek inside for you to gain a respect and wonderment for John Wolfe. You might also walk away with a little nugget of inspiration to use on the kiddos. It may go something like this, “See how little people truly need to survive? What an incredibly lucky child you are for all the little luxuries I provide you. You’re welcome, I do it because I love you.”
